As an individual, you are able to apply for a Basic DBS Criminal Record Check. This is the basic level criminality check processed by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service). It can be applicable for any role and is not restricted by industry sector. This Basic Disclosure check is a certificate which will show any unspent criminal convictions. The certificate will belong to you and it will be your responsibility to show on request.
Please note: It is a criminal offence to apply for a Basic DBS Criminal Record Check for anyone other than yourself.

Ordering a Basic DBS Criminal Record Check
Ordering a Basic DBS check is easy; Follow the 5 simple steps below
- Complete the short form below and consent to our Terms and Conditions. Once submitted, you will be redirected to our login details page.
- You will be asked to complete the eBulk online application form with your personal details.
- Once you have completed the eBulk online application form, you will be required to pay for your check.
(49p card fee is included in the cost) - You will then be asked to email Security Watchdog 3 verified identity documents.
(these documents will need to be verified by the Post Office at a fee of £12.75) or complete a Digital ID check. - Once we have received your verified documents or confirmation of your digital ID check we will submit your application to the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) / DS (Disclosure Scotland).

What you will need before you apply
Before completing your application for Basic disclosure, you will need to make sure you have a few things to hand. You will need...
Post Office verification required for the following:
- Current Passport and/or Photocard Driving Licence
- Proof of current address
You will also need:
- National Insurance Number
- 5 year address history with dates you moved to and from addresses
- A list of any names you have legally used and the dates used
- A card to make payment (American Express not accepted)
